The day has come that I can finally say: I finished!
It feels so exhilarating finishing a massive quilt top! This sucker is 7 ft by 7 ft! It contains 49- 12 inch churn dash blocks! Each of those are made up of 1 square, 8 rectangles, and 4 HST units! This quilt is epic. I. LOVE. IT.
That’s a lot of cutting I had to do. (Probably my least favorite part)
I hung my quilt top on my “design corner” this morning to finish it up. I hoped to finish in time for the Kate Spain blog hop hosted by Blossom Heart Quilts but running short on Kona Ash, not finding it in local stores, procrastinating to order it, then waiting, and making 3 super totes, delayed my finish. But all good things take time. I almost wanted to just leave the blocks on the wall it felt like I was in this amazing summer garden and I was being all nerdy and giddy twirling in front like a little girl :)
I chose to make a few different colored blocks with different arrangements as well. I think the overall look is fantastic!
I even made a filled in churn dash. I hope to add a little embroidery here :)
I hope everyone finds time to CHURN out a finish this weekend! haha (I love puns)
I recently bought 2 yards of Wayside in Sunset from Kate Spain‘s collection Honey Honey. I cannot say how much I LOVE this fabric!! It is THE most beautiful print I have found thus far! It must be sheets for my bed! Please Kate if you see this make my dreams come true and partner up with some store to make sheets! (Queen size please)
This fabric has so many fabulous colors in it! Coral, aqua, light green, buttercup, LOVE it!
So when I find a fabric I love I become paralyzed and petrified to cut into the gorgeous fabric. Surprisingly, I could not hold back any longer! I needed to cut this fabric up and make it into something fabulous so I could hang out with it all the time :)
So I cut it into some 5 inch charms while watching Scandal (great show! If you haven’t seen it yet the first season is on Netflix)! I luckily had the perfect solid it stock to pair with it: Kona Ash! I also cut the Kona into 5 inch charms. I sewed these up, twice down the middle, to make HSTs!
I’m still not sure where I want to take this quilt…maybe a chevron, maybe something different. I think I’ll just feel where the gorgeous fabric takes me :)
Luckily you can make almost anything from HSTs!
Should I keep the Lizzy House Hello Pilgrim stripe?
