Friendship Braid Quilt: Finished!

After months of sitting folded fully pieces, basted and partially quilted, I finally decided it was time to finish this quilt! I loved it since I first saw the pattern and then found Fig Tree’s beautiful jelly roll of Butterscotch and Roses at my local quilt shop. 2013-04-03 17.11.07

This beauty is made of numerous parallelograms, quickly cut from 2 1/2 ” strips. The whole piecing of the top (post-cutting) took just 4 hours! To think I waited months to finish a quilt that took so little time!

I originally had planned to outline each block of the braid 1/4″ in from the edges but that turned out to require too much knotting and burying of threads. I spent a good couple of hours ripping out 3 columns of threads. Once finished, I left the blocks unquilted with just outlines of each column. I wanted to keep it nice and soft.

I then spent 4 hours: 1 episode of SVU and 3 episodes of Body of Proof? (I never watched this before I just wanted some company) stippling the borders. I love how it turned out! There are a few skipped stitches but I’m okay with it considering it was my very first time FMQ stippling or even successfully FMQ!

Friendship Braid quilt made from Fig Tree fabrics!

Sorry for the not so great pictures! Clearly I am not a photographer and I still can’t find my camera charger so I’m stuck with iPad photos :/
